System Requirements

PopChart Server 4.0.5 has the following system requirements:

Operating System

Windows 98/NT4.0 or higher (2000 recommended), Mac® OS X, Solaris 8.0 or higher, and most UNIX or Linux® compatible systems.

Processor

Equivalent of a Pentium II 233 or higher.

Memory

64MB dedicated to your Java Virtual Machine (128MB recommended).

Java VM

JRE 1.2 or higher. A Java VM (version 1.3.1) will be installed automatically if you do not have one. Currently, we do not support Java VM version 1.4.

Hard Drive Space

15 to 40 MB, plus 15 MB if you need to install a Java Virtual Machine.

Other Requirements

A network connection is required to serve PopChart images.

To use the PopChart Embedder, most users will require a Java-extensible or COM-enabled web application server.

To interface directly with a database, PopChart Server requires a JDBC or ODBC driver for that database. PopChart Server can also import tab-delimited, comma separated, and XML data, as well as data converted to the PopChart XML or PopChart Script formats.

PopChart Builder, which can be installed automatically with PopChart Server, has the additional requirement of JRE 1.3 or higher. On Mac OS X, we highly recommend the 1.3.1 version that was released on February 25th, 2002.
