What I Have Not Said

Poetry

In former days, it was easier -
for some, they'd just know,
like learning to walk, something
mother would tell them,
and it happened. Such was life -
it continued the next day and
no one knew the difference.

Or some would just take,
take who they saw or could get.
You'd slay a dragon and instantly
she was yours - no questions asked -
she was yours.

But today you have to
read minds.
There is fear; there is caution.
She must be ...
And you must be ...
because you know,
you know the difference
between love and passion,
between the meaning and the trivial.
