Determining Your Network Architecture

Our customers use PopChart Server with a wide variety of network configurations, often involving firewalls, hardware or software load balancers, and web servers which front end the application servers.

We have designed PopChart clustering to work with multiple network architectures and implementations. Before configuring clustering for your PopChart Server, you will need to understand how PopChart Server will be integrated into your network architecture.

Examine the diagrams on the following pages ( Example 13.1 through Example 13.6) and determine which implementation most closely matches your setup. The diagrams will help you figure out how to set up clustering in your configuration. Particularly, it will help you figure out whether or not you need the pcClusterMonitor, as well as what values you will need to give your PopChart Embedder attributes. The remaining sections of this chapter will refer to these diagrams.

After you have done that, read the rest of this chapter for instructions on setting up different aspects of PopChart Server for clustering.
