Chapter 13
Available only in PopChart Server Enterprise.
This chapter discusses how to set up PopChart Server for clustering. Clustering is available only in PopChart Server Enterprise.
If the applications you are developing are mission critical or will be under extreme load, then you may wan to consider taking advantage of the clustering capabilities built in to PopChart Server Enterprise.
Clustering of two or more PopChart Servers is useful in situations where you need high redundancy and/or greater throughput. Clustering allows a group of servers to share information about PopChart images that are being requested and served. When servers are clustered, a hardware or software failure on one server does not prevent the image being delivered to the requesting browser. Clustering also allows a group of PopChart Servers to scale throughput by dividing request processing and image generation across multiple servers.
Note: Due to the nature of clustering, this is a highly technical chapter. You may need a good understanding of network administration to be able to follow along.
The first three sections will help you get ready to setup clustering for PopChart Server:
The last four chapters will help you set up different aspects of PopChart Server for clustering:
Important: Please read all of these sections carefully, even if you think they might not apply to you.
