This section contains troubleshooting tips for problems that occur during the setup of PopChart Server.
See "Unable to Run PopChart Server with Java 1.4 VM on Windows" in Chapter 14.
On Windows, if the Java 1.4.0 VM was selected during installation, you will see the following error message when trying to launch any PopChart program (PopChart Server, FontConverter, and PopChart Builder).
The error message alert window reads:
******************************************************************
Try re-installing the Java VM or change the Java VM used by the application.
******************************************************************
This is a known problem with our installation software. We are currently working on a resolution. Until then, try the following workaround.
PopChart Server points to a file called jvm.dll in the jre/bin/classic of your selected Java installation. This directory does not exist in JRE 1.4. You can solve this problem by creating a classic directory and copying the contents of the jre/bin/client directory into it.
By default, PopChart Server runs on port 2001.
If you have changed this port and forgotten what you changed it to, you can find this information in the config/PCAgent.cfg file. In the [PCISStartupArgs] section of this file, you will find a line similar to the following line:
The number at the end of this line is your server port (in this case, 2001). You can change this port by changing this number and restarting PopChart Server.
To install PopChart Server as a service on Windows, you must be logged into your computer as a user with Administrative privileges. If you were not logged in as a user with administrative privileges when you installed the service, the PopChart Server service will stop whenever you log off. To fix this problem, log in as the Administrator and reinstall PopChart Server.
The COM PopChart Embedder is not backwards compatible with PopChart Server 3.x. If you need to run the 3.x PCISEmbedder and the 4.x PopChart Embedder simultaneously on the same system, please contact our technical support staff for a solution.
